Vittorio Franzese


Vittorio Franzese joined the Chair in September 2025. He holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Naples Federico II, graduating with the highest honours. During his studies, Vittorio completed an exchange at the Riga Graduate School of Law, where he deepened his interest in the law and policy governing emerging technologies. He later joined the Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) research group at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel as a visiting researcher, where he completed his master’s thesis on AI regulation, EU law, and data protection.

Prior to beginning his doctoral studies, Vittorio worked as a research assistant at Utrecht University, conducting legal research on regulations and technical standards for a project commissioned by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). He was also involved in several interdisciplinary projects, working alongside computer scientists to leverage large language models in the legal domain. He currently serves as an external expert at the University of Bari.

Vittorio’s research focuses on the intersection of law and technology, with particular emphasis on AI regulatory frameworks and technical standards.
